I am now on the Design Team for Vintage Heartfelt Designs

Good Morning Everyone

I am posting my first offering as a new Design Team Member of Vintage Heartfelt Designs and I hope you take the time to visit this lovely blog.

Here is my card for the Birthday Blog Hop.

I have made a Birthday card using the parchment technique which I am a big fan of.  I have used bronze mirri card under the parchment and attached using brads.  The butterflies I made separately to give a 3D effect and placed pearl beads down the centres of the bodies.  The antena's have sparkly beads.

Happy crafting & thank you for stopping by

Summer Creation

Good Afternoon,

I have been making cards most of the day for various birthdays, blog DT work and Christmas cards.  Below is just one of the cards I have made and I will be entering this card into 4 challenges.

For this card I have used the beautiful Foundations Papers from Creative Expressions which is double sided and called Dot & Dash in this beautiful blue colour I have used Spellbinder Dies Square to cut this out.  The scalloped circle I have used Glitter Card from my crafty stash and the lace too.  The Square card is distressed using Dew Drop VersaMagic ink called Aquatic Splash.  The flower fairy is decoupage and blends beautifully in with the colours I have used for this card.  The butterflies are made using HobbyFun's sticky back plastic with a piece of their fabulous material of butterflies which I have cut out and placed onto the top right hand side of this card.  The sentiment I have written using one of my Sakura glitter pens.

I am entering this card into the following Challenges
Crafty Cardmakers - Butterflies
Flutterby Wednesdays - Stripes
Diva's by Design - Summer Colours

Dude Time Doodles August New Release & Blog Hop

Morning All, it is that time of the month for the Dude Time Doodles New Release Blog Hop,

I would like to introduce you to Merle Molar.  As you can see he is a dentist and I don't like the look of his tool.  He is beckoning you to his room for your next lot of treatment!  He looks like a very nice gentle old man but once he gets you in his chair he turns into a demon, loving to inflict pain and taking away your teeth if he can!

I have used a red base card and using one of my favourite Spellbinder dies scalloped ovals cut out Navy blue textured card and hilighted the edges using Dew Drop Brilliance Platinum Planet ink.  I then cut out an oval shape with Merle taking centre stage.  Using Tim Holtz Distress ink Fired Brick distressed the edges.  Using my watercolour pencils I have coloured Merle in and used a Silver Pen to highlight the curl on his tool and his glasses.  I have used Glossy Accents on his glasses which gives the illusion of glass.  For the x-ray of teeth I have printed these of the internet and printed them on acetate.  The film reel is a Spellbinder die I have distressed this lightly with Distress Ink Stormy Sky.  The molars in the bottom right hand corner are from the internet and seemed to be appropriate.  Using My Craft Studio Graphics programme I have typed his name and using one of my Spellbinder label dies cut this out.

I hope you enjoy your blog hopping of our new releases.  There is no start or finish point just enjoy the blog hop.  Now don't forget to leave us all a comment as one of us is the MYSTERY HOSTESS

You should have arrived here from Lynn and you now need to hop along to Chrissy and see what she has install for you.

CD Sunday Challenge

The challenge for this week over at CD Sunday Challenge is "Dream".  I have used My Craft Studio Catch a Dream CD.  Taking an 8 x 8 pearlescent basecard I have made a twisted easel card.  The first layer is burnt orange holographic paper which picks up the tones in the backing paper.  Over the backing paper I placed the words sheet dreams over and changed the colour then printed this out onto super smooth card.  The topper I copied and pasted 4 times and using the scissors feature cut them down to make this into a pyramage.  I then sprayed over the topper and backing paper with Crafter's Companion Spray and Sparkle iridescent spray.  On of the layer's of the topper I placed inside the card and using the text feature I typed the word Dream onto one of the oval colour features and printed this off and placed this onto the card to add as a topper to help the card stand open.

Card for Challenges

Good Evening everyone,

I have decided to enter this card into Creations by GillM Challenge.  The challenge this time is a sketch challenge check out her blog as it is really lovely and also Divas by Design which is pastels.

I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it.  Looking forward to my holidays in September when I will be flying off to Altinkum (which means Golden Sands) in Turkey.

I have yet again used my favourite style of card 8 x 8 inch square on pearlescent card.  From my crafty stash I have used a pale blue mirri card, cream coloured textured card, some card stock that looks like the sky and a sheet of sea horses from my K & Co 12 x 12 assorted papers.  I have used my Spellbinder dies (can't remember the names of these dies) and cut 2 different sizes so that they mat and layer just large enough for my decoupage which is one of the Moorhead designs.  I have distressed inked the layers with stormy sky and antique linen.  The shells are from a sheet of shells I found in my filing cabinet where I keep everything labelled into catergories.  The little book label is from another Spellbinder Die which I have handwritten "Sun, Sea and Sand" using a Sakura glitter pen in blue.

Creative Expressions DT Call

Good Morning

I am entering the Design Team Call for Creative Expression and this is one of the cards I have made.  I have used a soft peach coloured base card and pearlescent brown card for my first layer which I have cut out using my Grande Calibur and the fabulous Donna Salazar's Dies.  The next layer I have used water coloured card again using the DS dies.  I have then brayered using Distress inks in Stormy sky, Forest Moss and Tea Dye to produce the back ground.  Over the green brayered pieces I have then taken a stipple brush to give the green more definition.  Using the Create-a-Scene More Trees stamps I have stamped the pine trees in Pine Needles Distress Ink in different sizes and then using my watercolour brushes gave the trees more definition.  The leaf stems at the bottom right hand corner give the illusion of those spindly leaves you see sometimes at the edge of fields.   The car is from the Classic Car set of stamps which I have embossed in black Cosmic Shimmer Embossing Powder.  I have watercoloured the car using Fired Brick and Black Soot.  The windows and the head light have been clear embossed to give a domed effect.  The label at the top is one of the Spellbinder's labels to which I have attached the Rayon Vintage Ribbon after first going over it with Distress Ink Antique Linen and ruffled it across  The sentiment is from the Classic Cars stamp set which I have embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Embossing Powder in Black.  I loved making this card and I know my Dad will to as he is absolute mad about cars.

My next piece is an ATC for this I have used as a base the Foundations card dots and stripes. I have toned this down using Distress Ink Spun Sugar and around the edges Victorian Velvet.  I took the Butterfly Ballet masking template and used Artist Spackle over the template.  I then ripped the butterfly I wanted around leaving the torn edges and using Cosmic Shimmer mist in Silver I sprayed this over the butterfly.  Once this had dried I then dusted over using Cosmic Shimmer powder in Pink Mallow.  The flower was made using 2 small dies from one of the spellbinder's sets and used a pearl gem from my stash to add to the centre.  I have used gems for the antena on the butterfly.  For the label I have used a tag from my stash which I have stamped "Especially for You" from the Fuschia collection of Stamps using Perfect Medium and Cosmic Shimmer Silver Embossing Powder.

I hope you like my two very different designs

Thank you for stopping by and I would be grateful if you could leave a comment

My First Blog Award

Good Afternoon everyone

Well I had a lovely surprise yesterday and got my first blog award from the lovely Amy Jo, please click on the link to check out her lovely blog.

I have certain rules to follow for this so I would first like to thank Amy Jo ever so much for this my first award :)

I now have to tell you 7 things about myself that no-one know, boy is that difficult.

1.  Some people might be surprised to learn that I was actually born in Malta and travelled the Far East until my dad left the armed forces.  I loved it.

2. I didn't see a real live TV until we came back to the UK and I thought I was at the cinema.

3. I donated one of my kidneys to my son in 2007, and he is doing marvelous, he was diagnosed after just turning 21 and it was touch and go for a few years but everything went well.

4. I was in the Terratorial Army for 3 years and loved it.  I went on exercise to Germany for 2 weeks in the Mosel valley, very tiring but so enjoyable.

5. I was a radio operator and I can drive an army landrover, very scary when driving down the Mosel valley at stupid o'clock in the morning

6.  I have a cat  called Tiggy and she is my very first pet as an adult.  This surprised a lot of my family as they were not aware that I was a cat lover!!!!!!!

7.  I have an addiction to white chocolate. YUM YUM :)

Now I have to pass this award onto 7 fellow crafter's gosh who to choose so difficult as there are lots of lovely blogs I follow.

Dude Time Doodles Inspiration Challenge

Thank you for visiting my blog today.
Today is the inspirational challenge over at my favourite place Dude Time Doodles
Your challenge "should you choose to accept" is to use the color / photo inspiration and make your card or project.

For my interpretation I have used Conrad Construction.

I have used a black based card, used lipstick, electric and brick coloured card for matting and layering.
The texted mat I have created using My Craft Studio Papercraft Library Men-y Happy Returns CD utilising the text feature to print words to do with construction and placed a "hard hat" into the design.  As I printed this onto white cardstock I distressed this with "Tea Dye" to give it a "dirty look", as you know construction work can be very dirty!  The wording "smooth operator" is part of the saying that come with Conrad.

I have coloured Conrad in using my watercolour pencils and have gone around the stamped area with a fine black pen to give appearance of faux stitching.

I hope you visit Dude Time Doodles today and link up your project for the challenge.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon

I love to hear your comments.

Doncaster Workshop 2011

The day had finally arrived one we dedicated crafters had been waiting all year long for, workshop with Stephanie and Nancy at Doncaster.  We had discussed nothing else on the MCS forum for a couple of weeks so the excitement had been building up for a while.

I got up early on the Friday morning and travelled from Warrington to Doncaster, as I got near I was getting quite excited as not only was I going to be at the workshop but one of my friends was going to be there too.  A few of my MCS forum friends would also be attending and it was going to be really exciting to meet them after a couple of months of chatting to them on the forum.

As I got inside the reception area of Doncaster Racecourse, the area was buzzing with excitement as there were a lot of crafters eager to get started on a fabulous day.  We were finally allowed to go up the escalators to the top floor where are workshop would take place.  As we walked into the room the there were a lot of circular tables set out and piled high with goodies for us all, 220 of us.  We went and sat at a table and my friend Janet and her husband arrived and we were able to sit together which was lovely.  The girls from MCS were walking around ensuring that all the tables were ready and a note from Stephanie telling us to "keep our paws" off the bags until the workshop began.

The excitement was building as 10 o'clock approached, then at a minute to 10 the music started for Rocky, (the tune from where he runs up the steps and punches the air as he gets to the top) and out the doors came the fighting crafting duo, both were dressed in black with flourescent pink leg warmers, wrist bands and head bands, we all cheered and the show began.  The jogged up to the stage and on the table was strategically placed 2 GIN bottles (they say filled with water).  There was a lot of cheering and laughter from the dynamic duo and then we got down to business.

Here is a picture of my friend Janet and I with our first completed project.  A book card with an acetate topper of a bird cage with a lovely feather, bead embellishment and ribbon border.
This is David, Janet's husband with another lovely crafter called Janet with their completed cards too.  As you can see we are wearing our lovely pink aprons which had been signed by both Stephanie and Nancy.
We went on to do another 3 more cards which were just as lovely to do.  They involved using different techniques and sumptious papers, embellishments and ribbon.

I can safely say we all had a fabulous time and both Stephanie and Nancy were on top form, coming round the room all day speaking to each table and helping out.  I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK YOU to all of the girls at MCS and not forgetting Paul who was the only male helper there.  Zoe, Emma, Jayne, Christine, Kirsty, Diane, Deirdre, Nicola, Emma and a few others to whom I must apologise for not remembering their names, they did an amazing job helping us all.
I have attached just a few photographs of a most enjoyable day, I met a few of MCS forum friends and the ladies who where on our table thank you for your wonderful company.

This last photo is of me with Stephanie and Nancy kindly giving me a sip (or should a say glug) of their Gin, we had a lot of giggles over that when I told them that I do actually drink Gin. :)

A happy day, can't wait now until next year :)

I hope you have enjoyed my little tale of a fabulous day at Doncaster.
Thank you for stopping by.

Red, White and Blue

I have made this card for my aunt and uncle's wedding anniversary.

I have used white pearlescent card for the base and used royal blue ribbon down the centre which has silver glitter bits running through it and tied a separate bow at the top of the paper doily heart, I just love these paper doily's.  I have inked the heart with stormy sky distress ink and used Popcorn the bear and his girlfriend (can't remember her name) decoupage of them cuddling with little red hearts all around them, aaaah so cute.  I have added red gems and red swirls and white gems on the swirls which are all from my crafty stash.

I am entering this into the Patches of Pink Thursday Link-up Party challenge with the theme being Red, White and Blue.

Thank you for stopping by and I would love to hear your comments.

Believe

For this card I have used my Grande Calibur to cut out the first layer in pearlescent pink card and then using Dew Drop Brilliance pigment ink in pearlescent orchid gave it an added lustre.  Using My Craft Studio CD Walk in Wonderland I have printed off the background paper with the arch and the wording "Believe" and distressed around the edges with Spun Sugar distress ink.  The angel is one of my favourite Angel Whispers range decoupage kits.  The pearl in the bottom corner of the card has been glittered using Crafter's Companion iridescent spray with the butterfly just about to fly away.  The pearls on the corners and on her bow are from my crafty stash.

I am entering this card into the following Challenges

Flutterby Butterfly - Open
By the Cute and Girly - Things with Wings
Bling it on - Anything Goes

Dude Time Doodles Sketch Challenge

Here is my interpretation of the Sketch for the Dude Time Doodles Challenge. I have used white pearlescent base card. The first layer is a lovely 12 x 12 card stock from my stash which I have cut using my Grande Calibur, the layer with roses I have printed off from the Crafter's Companion Flower Fairies CD. The top layer I have used the "Forever Friends" digi stamp from Bonibleaux Designs. I have coloured them in by first using green and blue distress inks to give the illusion of grass and sky. I have used my watercolour pencils to colour the boy and girl in and used Woodware "Fluffy Stuff" on the clouds to give them added dimension. The leaf, rosebuds and ribbon are from my crafty stash. The saying is one of Clarity Stamps which fitted the image perfectly.
