Steampunk Canvas

Good Morning Crafty Friends, Followers and Visitors

Well the new craft room has been well and truly christened.

I got really messy creating today's blog post for you.

I decided to have a go at the Kit and Clowder mixed media class and this is my interpretation.

5 x 7 canvas, I gave a coat of white gesso and then stencilled cogs and gears and honeycomb modelling paste.  Once this was dry I spritzed blues, greens and rusts.  Once this was dry I dry brushed copper over some of the canvas and around the edges.

I printed the image Saturated Canary Steampunk Style and coloured with Copics then cut out. I painted the wings with Gesso and spritzed with distress ink once dried I dry brushed Pebeo Copper paint, adhered to canvas and placed the image over the top.

To finish off I added cogs, lace which has been painted with Pebeo Dyan paint and flower to her hair, to 2 of the corners metal embellishments and flowers which have all been spritzed with blue green and rust ink.

Secret Garden Clock

Good Morning Crafty Friends, Followers and Visitors

I am so excited as today I get to spend more time crafting in my new craft room.

All housework and washing has been done and hubby has been told not to interrupt me creating.

Today I have altered a Tim Holtz alarm clock, I hope you like.

I wanted to create a garden scene so I painted an MDF square with Adirondak Dabber Lettuce and when over with Distress Paint Peeled Paint.

I painted the outside of the clock with Adirondak Dabber Lettuce

On the inside I used Distress Paint Weathered Wood

I attached the paper to the inside of the lid to the clock and decorated inside with metal leaf, flowers and a butterfly.
On the outside I cut out the fence with Kraft card, added the Prima bicycle and the clock face onto the wheel, I then added the flower pot.

Up one side of the clock I added pearl strand, flowers, leave and butterfly.
Finished adding flowers to the flower post and added flowers to the back of the fence too.

From this angle you can see the bird cage, dragonfly and the little birds I cut out from the paper on the handle.

To finish off I added Stickles to the flowers which hasn't shown up very well.

How are you all? Will you be getting crafty today?

If you missed my post about my new craft room and would like to see click here.

Step by Step

1. 7 x 7 white square linen card and first layer is white card.
2. Using the Groovi board and the deckle edge around the edge of the parchment, for the centre I used the butterfly and then added the flowers around. I then cut out the parchment by pricking around the edge with my 2 prong tool then snipped out.

Craft Room Reveal

Good Evening Crafty Friends, Followers and Visitors

Woohoo the craft room/office is now finished.

I want to thank Rick for putting up with me during this long overdue refurbish.
Kath and Steve for their help too, especially Steve who put in the shelves and the worktop.

Warning this post is photograph heavy!

Here is a photo of what it looked like before, a mismatch of storage.

This is where I worked doing my work as well as crafting.

I stripped out the craft room except for the desk and one unit and painted the skirting boards and walls, a very pale green.

I bought the shelving from Ikea called Billy bookcases and these filled the back wall.

I changed my mind a couple of times on which the way the units would go and decided with this.
I also reupholstered my stool with lovely green material from Hobbycraft in keeping with the green theme.

The task then was to bring everything down from the loft and study, to be put into the craft room ready for me to start putting things in some sort of order.

I have a new blind and got rid of the curtains, more light which is just what I needed.

The next series of photos are the completed room and everything has its own place now.
I put all my finished projects on the top of the units. As you can see the storage goes right to the bottom so lots more storage.

I have been after one of these trolleys from Ikea for ages and treated myself to a new chair and the trolley! This holds all my essentials instead of taking room up on the work top.

More shelves filled to the brim, bought new storage boxes from Ikea which are clear so I can see where things are.

Love these graduated in length shelving, the top shelf has boxes which are empty so lots of more storage for new goodies.

I couldn't part with this cube with my Paint Fusion on the doors and has all my paper and card in boxes, it is surprising how much this cube holds.

Finally under my side where I will work all my canvas' and altered art products for projects.

I hope you have enjoyed the tour of my newly decorated and refurbished craft room.
I can't wait now to get started on some crafting, not tonight as I am shattered after the past couple of weeks.

Thank you so much for your visits, support and comments.
