Chic Craftique Journal

Good Morning Crafty Friends, Followers and Visitors

Today I am sharing my decorated journal for Chic Craftique 12 month journal event over on Facebook.

Here is a video about the journal and subbies giveaway!

As you know I have challenged myself to learn new techniques this year and made a good start so far.

This journal I bought from the Range and the cover was black and is A5 size.
I gave the back and front a coat of Gesso.

I then mixed blue and white acrylic paint and painted over both sides.

I then added musical tissue paper and die cut fob watch and musical notes.

I then used Craftwork clock stencil and modelling paste and added to both back and front of the journal.

I then added the metal words which reads My Journal 2016 and painted a darker blue.

As the words got lost I outlined them with black marker pen and then dry brushed Pebeo DYNA silver iridescent paint over the letters and the raised areas of the stencilled clocks.
To finish off I spritzed Distress Spray Stain and dabbed with a wet wipe.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

A bit more time to craft #12 - Anything Goes
Crafty Friends #23 - Anything Goes
Anything But Cute #9  - New Products (Distress Spray Stains)
Crafting with an Attitude #11 - Anything Goes
Crafty Girls Creations #12 - Always Anything Goes
Through the Purple Haze #93 - Anything Goes

Many thanks for stopping by today!

  1. LOVE the result Linda, it's awesome and I love mixed media too. Did you paint/gesso the inside of the cover as well, not sure if that's what you meant. I am doing one at the moment but just glued my mixed media on the top of the black cover, think I may remove it and do the gesso and painting first.xxx

  14. Your blue journal cover sure is going to be an I soiration to use your journal because it is awesome sauce! Very clever to outline the letters in black so they pop off the page. Aren't Distress Sprays fun? Wonderous sheen with the silver over the letters as well.

  19. Fab job Linda and well done on challenging yourself. I want to get into stamping more of my images and learning to colour them. I'd like to be a bit more spontaneous with my crafting as I tend to overthink things X
