Vintage Reverse Canvas

Good Morning Crafty Friends, Followers and Visitors

How are you all doing today?
Housework to do first before getting into my craft room, fancy a bit of parchment crafting for a couple of hours before getting ready for my cousin Paul and his wife Gill coming for a meal.

What do you have planned?

Here is the reverse canvas I created when Kath came on Thursday for our play day. Visit Kath's blog to see her interpretation, she show the theme of reverse canvas and spring.

I first gave the inside of the canvas a coat of white Gesso, I then went over the frame with modelling paste to cover the staples and also a think layer on the inside.  Once dry I stencilled around the outside with a number of different stencils, wall, heart, harlequin and postcard with modelling paste.  Painted it with Pebeo Ash brown then dry brushed dark brown over this to highlight the stencilling.

For the inside I cut out a piece of cardboard, removed some of the top layer to add texture, painted a coat of Gesso, using modelling paste and these stencils  bird cages harlequin and words added more texture.  Once dry gave it a coat of Pebeo antique white paint, I then dry brushed brown and gold to highlight the stencilling.
The frame was grey and white, I painted a coat of Gesso, then antique white. Once dry painted over with brown using a baby wipe wiped some of the brown off, once this was completely dry I dry brushed gold iridescent paint to highlight. The image is from Tim Holtz ephemera collection.

To finish off I placed the insert inside the canvas with Glue gel.
Painted the flourish and door hinge with Gesso and Pebeo paint, then dry brushed with gold paint.
The large flower and metal leaves are from my stash. The other flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.
The birds have been painted and dry brushed with gold to highlight them (unfortunately the photograph doesn't show this very well. I also painted the birdcage too.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
