Turkey 2011

Hi All

Well I have just spent the last 2 weeks in Alktinkum, Turkey.  It was amazing and the weather was fabulous until the last day when it rained.  That didn't stop me from swimming in the pool while it was raining though it was fantastic and I had a lovely drink of Rum and Coke to keep me going.

This has just been the best holiday, we stayed in the hotel called Vernosa which was just amazing.  We were on the 4th floor and the views from the balcony are posted below this photograph of the hotel.  Every room had a sea view and the decor of the reception area was truly amazing.  There were 3 bars and you could eat from sunrise to sunset.  Naturally I put on a bit of weight whilst away but that was part and parcel of having a fabulous holiday.

The weather was very hot and sunny as to can see from the photograpghs the sky was a deep blue.  The temperature never went below 30 degrees and we had a couple of really hot days at 38 degrees.

For my husband and I this is a relaxing holiday and we don't go on a lot of day trips but there was one particular trip we went on and that was to see Apollo's Temple.  We did pick the hottest day to go but oh my it was worth it.  It was truly amazing as you can see from just one of the many photographs we took.

I certainly didn't spend all my time lazying in the sun reading although I did get through 8 books whilst I was away.  I ticked off a few things on my list of things I wanted to do which included playing water polo, sliding down one of the water slides which in itself was an achievement for me as I am scarred of heights, won't ever do that again, played beach volley ball which was great fun.

The photographs below are of my hubby Rick and I and also one of me posing on our last evening before we had to come home.

If you ever fancy going to Turkey for a holiday I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.  Everything is there, they have spa facilities which both my hubby and I had a Turkish Bath with a massage and was fab.  There is a hairdressers/barbers shop there which hubby had not 1 but 2 turkish shaves which he really enjoyed.

Well that is it from me today.  I hope you have enjoyed a little look at just a few of my holiday pictures and thank you for stopping by.

Creations by Gill M Challenge - Scrapbox Challenge

Well our leader gave her design team a real challenge this time.  We had to make a card etc using scraps from our scrap box.  We had to take a photograph of the scraps first and then using those scraps come up with a design.

This is a photograph of the scraps that I decided to use and below is the finished result.

The base card is taken from a 12 x 12 card stock which I cut down to 6 x 6.  The butterfly paper is from my K & CO which I put on the inside of the card.  I rolled down the right hand corner and threaded yellow, white and green florist ribbon through and tied together and then curled.  The sentiment is from my stash.  The pink and gold card I punched butterflies using Martha Stewart border punch and place one on top of the other then braided the florist ribbon and placed along the centre.
The butterfly, flowers and leaves are all punched using 3 of Martha Stewart punches which I have then used as decoration for my card.  The gems on the butterfly and flowers are from my stash.

Now it is over to you, so come on let us see what you can come up with using just scraps from your own scrap box.  So please hop on over the Gill's blog and see the rules for this challenge.

Thank you for stopping by until next time

Dude Time Doodles Inspiration Challenge

Over at Dude Time Doodles it is that time of the month for our Inspiration Challenge.

I have used Evan Everyday Hero for this challenge.  My hero is my husband Rick, he is a star and often helps me around the house doing what every crafter dreads "housework" which takes us away from our crafting time.

I have made a stepper card using a deep dark blue for the base card.  The backing papers are from Crafter's Companion's Occupations CD which shows the feather duster, dustpan and brush and of course the Hoover.  I have fuzzy cut out Evan and coloured him in using my faithful watercolour pencils.  He looks ready for action don't you think?

Vintage Heartfelt Designs Teapot Challenge

Today at Vintage Heartfelt Designs the challenge is to make a tag of any size but to incorporate a teapot and to include swirls and handmade flowers.

I have used a piece of oval mountboard from my stash and distressed this with Dew Drops Brilliance Lavender.  Using a swirl stamp from my stash I have stamped onto the mountboard using Versamark and embossed using Heat it up! embossing powder in Enchanted Gold.

The teapot is cut out using my eCraft machine in lilac pearlescent card.  The leaves and the flowers I have made using My Craft Studio, Click, Print and Go paper flower expert.  I have glittered them with glitter and added a gem to each of the flowers.  The glittered ribbon is from my stash.

Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to leave a comment.
Happy Crafting

Creations by Gill M Challenge

It is September and today is the first challenge of the month over at Creations by Gill M.

This time we would like for you to create a project (anything goes) depicting being as cute as a cupcake.  This can be anything at all from a Scrapbook layout, card, album, x stitch or even a baked cupcake.  The choice is yours.

Below is my creation for this challenge to give you some inspiration.

On my base card I have stamped swirls using Dew Drop Versa Magic Chalk ink Jumbo Java.  The stamp is from the Kanban clear stamps which accompany their Coffe Shop topper range.  I have cut 3 layers from one of the Spellbinder's large dies to make a bookatrix.  The first layer is cream with gold swirls on, the second layer is gold mirri card and the last layer is brown pearlescent card from my stash.  I have placed brown organza ribbon down the centre and placed cream and gold ribbon in the centre of the brown.  The toppers and both sentiments are from Kanban topper range called Coffee Shop.

Now it is over to you and we look forward to seeing your own interpretations for this "cute as a cupcake" challenge.

Thank you for stopping by

Dude Time Doodles Sketch Challenge

Good Morning All,

Over at Dude Time Doodles it is that time of the month for our first challenge which is the Sketch Challenge.

Following the above sketch which you can flip, twist and work with for one week and then submit.  You do not have to use Bonileaux Designs but it would give the Dudettes a thrill to see your interpretations.  It must be a masculine card too.

Below is my interpretation of the sketch.

I have used Under Carriage Craig and made a twisted easel card.  The backing paper on the inside of the card was taken from Crafter's Companion Mens Occupations CD and the sentiment inside reads "Happy Birthday to a Car Fanatic",  there are quite a few men in my family who love their cars so it seemed appropriate.

I have used black card stock I have layered a sheet of tyres taken from the above CD.  Using My Craft Studio graphics programme I have made a backing sheet using the works "Grease Monkey,Garage Guru, Mechanics do it with Lube and If it ain't broke, take it apart and fix it anyway.  I have distressed this using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy.  The top has been cut out using my Grand Calibur and Spellbinder Square Die.  I have distressed the edges with the above distress ink and colour the image using my watercolour pencils.  In the top right hand corner I have used a couple of brads in the shape of screws and the spanner is from my crafty stash.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Don't forget to check out Dude Time Doodles to see what the other Dudettes and done with this sketch.

June, July & August Random Act of Kindness Cards

Evening my blogging friends

Tonight I am showing you my 3 cards from my RAK club buddies which I have received for the months of June, July and August.  I hang my head in shame because I haven't posted them before now.  So to Becky, Alethea and Gill I humbly apologise.  I love each and everyone of them.

So from Becky in June I received this fab card, the theme was black & white with one other colour.

Isn't this just gorgeous.  Thank you Becky

Now for July the theme was A summer holiday and I received my card from Alethea in Australia.

Doesn't this just make you think of the beach and long hot summer days?  Thank you Alethea

Lastly last month's theme was a shaped card other than  square or rectangle and I received this fab card from Gill.

Now Gill knows me so well! I love cats and fairies so what better card to send me than a cat with wings.  Thank you Gill.
